Tips
Outdoor central tube filled optical cable
GYXTW is actually a type of optical cable, representing an outdoor center tube filled optical cable for communication. It is commonly used for outdoor overhead or pipeline wiring, and the optical fibers inside are usually single-mode.
What does each letter represent
GY: Outdoor optical cable for communication, indicating that it can be used outdoors under wind and sun exposure.
X: Central tube structure, with optical fibers placed in the middle tube, resulting in a compact structure.
T: Filled type, the pipe is filled with grease to prevent water and moisture.
W: A steel polyethylene bonded sheath with steel wire, which contains steel wire and has good tensile strength and is not easily broken.
Where is it suitable for use?
This type of optical cable is lightweight and low-cost, suitable for short distance overhead or pipeline laying, such as wiring in residential buildings and communication trunk lines in cities. If it is a long-distance or heavy pressure environment, other models such as GYTS may be chosen.
GYXTW is the mainstream model of outdoor center bundle tube light armored optical cable. Its advantages and disadvantages are directly related to its structural design, as follows:
1, Core advantages
Easy to lay and low cost
It has a small outer diameter and light weight, with a weight of only 80-110kg per kilometer, greatly reducing construction difficulty. It is suitable for various laying scenarios such as overhead, pipeline, and short distance direct burial, without the need for additional complex protective components, which can effectively save construction costs.
Balanced protection performance
The double-sided coated steel strip longitudinal wrapping structure brings excellent resistance to moisture and lateral pressure, and also has a certain anti rodent bite effect; The parallel steel wire reinforcement on both sides allows the optical cable to withstand a short-term tensile force of up to 1500N and a long-term stable tensile force of 600N, meeting the mechanical performance requirements of most outdoor scenarios.
Strong environmental adaptability
Full section waterproof design combined with special grease filling, excellent waterproof and moisture-proof ability; The PE sheath is UV resistant and aging resistant, and can operate stably in a wide temperature range of -40 ℃ to+70 ℃, with a service life of over 30 years.
Stable transmission performance
Using high-purity single-mode fiber, the wavelength loss at 1310nm is ≤ 0.36dB/km, and the wavelength loss at 1550nm is as low as 0.22dB/km. After cable formation, the additional attenuation of the fiber is almost zero, and it can stably carry gigabit and ten gigabit high-speed transmission.
2, Main drawbacks
Limited fiber optic capacity
Due to the structural limitations of the central single tube, conventional GYXTW optical cables can only support up to 24 core fibers, while mainstream products mostly have 2-12 cores, which cannot meet the large-scale communication engineering needs of large numbers of cores.
Poor adaptability to overloaded scenarios
Compared to heavy-duty armored optical cables such as layer twisted GYTS, its overall tensile and impact resistance is relatively weak, making it unsuitable for extreme and harsh working conditions such as long-distance and large-span overhead, deep burial, or heavy load compaction.
Insufficient direct burial protection
Conventional GYXTW does not have a double-layer armor structure, which makes it easy to be damaged by sharp gravel when buried directly. In direct burial scenarios, PVC pipes must be wrapped for protection, which increases construction steps and material costs.
