Classification of Fiber Patch Cords
Fiber patch cords are mainly divided into single-mode fiber patch cords and multimode fiber patch cords by transmission medium.
Single-mode Fiber (SMF): Typically colored yellow, with blue connectors and protective boots. It supports long-distance transmission.
Multimode Fiber (MMF): Usually orange or grey, paired with beige or black connectors and protective boots. It is designed for short-distance transmission.
Classified by connector structure, fiber patch cords come in various types including FC, SC, ST, LC, MTRJ, MPO, MU, SMA, FDDI, E2000, DIN4 and D4. The most common combinations include FC-FC, FC-SC, FC-LC, FC-ST, SC-SC, SC-ST, etc.
1.FC Fiber Patch Cord: Reinforced with a metal sleeve and secured by a screw lock. It is widely used on ODF (Optical Distribution Frame) sides.
2.SC Fiber Patch Cord: A rectangular connector for GBIC optical modules. It adopts a push-pull latching design with no need for rotation, and is commonly applied to routers and switches.
3.ST Fiber Patch Cord: Features a round housing and screw lock structure. It is frequently used in optical distribution frames, and is the standard connector for 10Base-F connections.
4.LC Fiber Patch Cord: Matched with SFP transceivers. It applies user-friendly modular RJ-style latching mechanism and is widely used on routers.
