**Construction Standard of Optical Cable Grounding Protection**

**Optical cable grounding protection**

Optical cable grounding protection is mandatory safety construction procedure for metal-armored and metal-component optical cables, preventing induced lightning damage and static electricity accumulation. Outdoor armored cable metal sheath, OPGW metal strand and distribution box metal shell must complete reliable grounding connection. The standard grounding resistance shall be less than 10Ω for common aerial and pipeline optical lines, and less than 4Ω for substation peripheral optical cables.

**Construction methods and environment**

Constructors strip outer sheath at reserved grounding point, polish metal armor surface, fix grounding wire with special grounding clamp and bury galvanized grounding pole underground. Grounding construction is forbidden in rainy thunderstorm days. Standard grounding can release induced static electricity, avoid lightning surge burning optical equipment and ensure summer thunderstorm season network safe operation.
