GYTA53 direct burial single mode fiber optic cable, optical fibers are housed in loose tubes that made of high-modulus plastic and filled with tube filling compound. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around a central strength member to form a cable core. The core is protected with Aluminum tape, a layer of inner PE sheath and corrugated steel tape. Then another layer outer PE sheath is extruded.

**Function of Optical Cable Water Blocking Tape**

**Characteristics of water blocking tape**

Water blocking tape is wrapped between cable armor and outer sheath, a universal protective auxiliary material for outdoor armored optical cables. It owns high tensile strength, tear resistance and insulation performance.

**Three effects of water blocking tape**

-It isolates metal armor and outer sheath, preventing metal edge from piercing outer sheath during cable bending.

-It enhances overall longitudinal tensile strength of whole cable, sharing partial external pulling force during laying.

-It improves insulation performance of metal armor, avoiding accidental conduction caused by armor contact with external charged facilities.

The tape has aging-resistant and acid-base resistant performance, matching underground soil corrosive environment. It is a standard structural layer indispensable for qualified direct-buried armored optical cables.
