Optic Cable

Optic Cable

Stranded multi-tube steel tape armored fiber optic cable single mode GYTS
GYTS armored fiber optic cable which single mode fibers are housed in loose tubes that made of high-modulus plastic and tube with filling compound. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around a central strength member and surrounded with corrugated steel tape to form a cable core. optic cable,An extremely outer PE sheath is extruded outside the core.

Tips

Coiled tubing with fiber optic cable enables simultaneous three-mode monitoring in underground geothermal reservoirs, solving a major challenge.

A fiber optic surgery 8,000 feet underground-how Forge in the US uses a "recyclable nerve" to solve the biggest problem in geothermal development.

In February 2026, at the 51st Stanford University Geothermal Reservoir Engineering Symposium, a paper from Texas Tech University revealed a technology that could potentially revolutionize the geothermal industry. At the Forge Enhanced Geothermal System Test Field in Utah, the research team successfully deployed a "recyclable" coiled tubing fiber optic cable for the first time, achieving simultaneous DTS/DAS/RFS-DSS three-mode monitoring in a high-temperature granite reservoir more than 3,000 meters deep. This is not a simple technology verification, but a paradigm shift for the geothermal industry from "disposable sensors" to "maintainable smart wellbores."

I. Geothermal Energy: A Severely Underestimated Trillion-Dollar Clean Energy Source
In the global energy transition narrative, solar and wind power dominate the headlines. But there is an energy source that is unaffected by weather, does not occupy land, and has almost zero carbon emissions-geothermal energy.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has an ambitious assessment: if Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) technology matures, the exploitable geothermal resources within the United States alone could meet thousands of times the nation's electricity demand. The problem isn't "how much," but "how to extract it."

The core logic of EGS is this: artificial fracture networks are created in high-temperature underground granite using hydraulic fracturing. Cold water is injected from one well, and hot water/steam heated by the rock mass is extracted from another, driving turbines to generate electricity. Essentially, this is "building a heat exchanger underground." However, this logic has a fatal flaw: you can't see what's happening underground. Granite temperatures reach 200-450°C, and well depths can easily reach 3000-5000 meters.

In such an environment, traditional electronic sensors-whether thermometers, pressure gauges, or seismic detectors-face a triple challenge: high-temperature failure, installation difficulties, and short lifespan. It's like putting a cell phone in a volcano: it's not a question of whether it will work, but whether it will explode in minutes.
