Verizon and Google Sign $1 Billion AI Data Center Fiber Connectivity Deal Last Friday, US telecom operator Verizon announced a $1 billion AI data center partnership agreement with Google, positioning the telecom operator as a connectivity service provider for AI data center construction.
Verizon CEO Dan Schulman disclosed the deal during the second-quarter earnings call. Under the agreement, Verizon will provide dark fiber to connect Google's data centers. He stated, "The nationwide AI infrastructure development is one of the largest capital cycles we've ever experienced, and Verizon is uniquely positioned to participate in it."
Dan Schulman described the partnership with Google as the beginning of Verizon's full-scale entry into the AI infrastructure connectivity field. He stated that Verizon expects to announce more agreements by the end of this year, which will generate billions of dollars in revenue over the next few years. He described these future contracts as stable, long-term agreements with the most technically demanding customers in the infrastructure sector.
