Tips
The GYXTW's 8 core fiber optic cable structure, from the inside out, is as follows:
Fiber Optic: 250μm coated fiber, centrally located at the core.
Loose Tube: A loose tube made of high-modulus material, protecting the fiber optic cable.
Jelly: A special waterproof grease fills the loose tube, providing crucial protection for the fiber optic cable.
Water-Blocking Material: A water-blocking layer (water-blocking grease or water-blocking yarn) is placed between the steel tape and the core to ensure longitudinal water blocking.
Plastic-Coated Steel Tape (PSP): Double-sided plastic-coated steel tape wraps longitudinally, providing resistance to lateral pressure and moisture.
Parallel Double Steel Wires: One parallel steel wire is placed on each side, providing tensile strength.
Polyethylene (PE) Sheath: The outermost extruded PE sheath has excellent UV radiation resistance.
The unique feature of this design is that the fiber optic cable is concentrated at the core, while the reinforcing elements (steel wires) are distributed on both sides of the sheath, forming a unique "central loose tube + double-sided reinforcement" structure, fundamentally different from the multi-tube distributed structure of stranded optical cables.
Central Loose Tube Structure: All optical fibers are concentrated in a single loose tube, unlike stranded cables which are distributed across multiple loose tubes. This design allows for a smaller outer diameter and a more compact structure, making it particularly suitable for low-core applications (2-24 cores).
Double Waterproofing System: The loose tube is filled with a waterproof compound to protect the optical fiber itself; an additional water-blocking layer is installed between the steel tape and the cable core to achieve longitudinal water blocking; these two lines of defense ensure long-term stable operation of the cable in humid and water-immersed environments.
Steel-Plastic Composite Bonded Sheath: Double-sided plastic-coated corrugated steel tape is tightly bonded to the PE sheath using a bonding process, enhancing both lateral pressure resistance and moisture resistance-the core meaning of the "W-sheath."
Double Parallel Steel Wire Reinforcement: Two parallel steel wires are symmetrically distributed on both sides of the sheath, ensuring both tensile strength and even stress distribution, preventing deformation.
Advantages:
* Excellent mechanical properties;
* Tensile strength: Allowable tensile force 600N long-term / 1500N short-term (2-12 core specifications);
* Compressive strength: Allowable flattening force 300N/100mm long-term / 1000N/100mm short-term;
* Double-sided plastic-coated steel tape effectively enhances lateral pressure resistance;
* Small outer diameter and lightweight;
* Taking 2-12 cores as an example, the outer diameter is only about 8.9-9.0mm, and the weight is about 85-90kg/km, making construction and handling convenient and reducing construction difficulty and cost.
Stable fiber optic transmission performance:
* After cabling, the additional attenuation of the fiber is almost zero, the dispersion value remains unchanged, and the excess fiber length is stably controlled, ensuring signal transmission quality.
Wide temperature adaptability:
* Storage and operating temperature range is -40℃ to +70℃, adaptable to extreme climatic conditions.
Flexible laying methods:
* Supports overhead, conduit, and underground laying methods, with strong adaptability to various scenarios.
UV resistant and corrosion resistant:
* The PE sheath has excellent UV radiation resistance, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use; the PSP steel strap enhances moisture resistance, making it particularly suitable for rainy areas in the south.
